About Us – MKIllustrations Medical Illustrations

Mary Kate is the owner and principal creative mind at MKIllustrations. It is her passion for illustrating the intricacies of the human body that led to her vision and establishment of MKIllustrations in 2006. Mary Kate has had her award-winning artwork published in journals, textbooks, newspapers, brochures, and newsletters. She has won numerous awards including the Award of Excellence in Typography and Illustration and the Grand Award in Design and Illustration in the APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. She has received an Award of Merit in the Medical Category in the 3×3 Annual Professional Illustration Show and was also awarded the Stenstrom Award of Excellence and a Certificate of Merit in Instructional Color from the Association of Medical Illustrators.

Mary Kate received her undergraduate degree in studio art from Tulane University and a Masters of Science in Medical Illustration from Augusta University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia). She also holds a Certification in Medical Illustration and is a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrations, as well as the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
